Dr. Plener treats many conditions with a special focus on spine related conditions.

Exercises are critically important for the success of treatment. Dr. Plener will provide you specific exercises to do that are safe. Most of the exercises require no equipment and can be done in the comfort of your home!

In order to determine the appropriate treatment, a thorough history and physical examination needs to be performed. Your first visit will consist of a history, physical examination and explanation of your diagnosis.

The type of treatment depends on your conditions but typically a combination of joint mobilizations, soft tissue therapy, neural mobilization, exercises and education are provided.

The exercises Dr. Plener gives are very important for recovery. Each person will be given a workbook that outlines the exercises, repetitions and number of sets to complete. Each exercise will be demonstrated through pictures and accompanying text.

Spinal manipulation is only one form of treatment and not always used. A thorough discussion would be had to explain pros and cons of any suggested treatment. Only treatments that you are comfortable with will be performed.

At your initial assessment, you will gain an understanding of what the intent of the treatment is. Typically, the treatments are used to improve three things; flexibility, strength and endurance.

With any medical treatment there are risks. The type of risk changes depending on the treatment and the body region being targeted. Prior to any treatment you will have a good understanding of what those risks are so you can make an informed decision about the care you receive.

Many factors are used to determine your expected recovery. The majority of patients report significant improvements in their function and pain levels.

Self-management strategies are very important for your recovery. During your visits you will be provided with self-management strategies to be able to better manage your symptoms.

Most extended health plans provide coverage for chiropractic care. You can check with your insurer how much coverage you have. You will receive an invoice following your visit that you would submit to your private insurance to get reimbursed.
