Dr. Plener has been involved in a variety of research initiatives, including biomechanics, interprofessional education, and clinical research. His main research focus is degenerative spinal conditions and their impact on patients, working to improve their quality of life.
Furthermore, Dr. Plener assists other clinicians in understanding and being aware of research. He is a reviewer for the Research Review Service, where he summarizes recent articles to allow clinicians to keep up to date in the literature. This knowledge translation work is fundamental to ensure the profession can practice effective evidence-based care.
Research conferences:
Dr. Plener had the privilege of presenting at numerous research conferences. He has presented research in Berlin, Germany, as well as prestigious virtual spine conferences.
In addition, Dr. Plener has been invited to present at conferences, such presenting a workshop on low back pain at the Ottawa Interdisciplinary Student Research Conference on Healthcare. His talk revolved around a tool that can be used to improve the assessment and management of low back pain.
